Towards Successful Implementation of Devolution in Zimbabwe Policy Dialogue

ZEPARU in collaboration with Ministry of Local Government and Public Works organised a policy dialogue that ran under the theme "Towards Successful Implementation of Devolution in Zimbabwe". The policy dialogue was held on the 13th of February 2020 in Harare. 

The policy dialogue  aimed discussing the key success factors and capacity gaps that exist in the three tiers of government that could undermine the implementation of devolution in Zimbabwe. ZEPARU presented two research papers that were conducted  with financial support from GIZ to stimulate discussion and debate on the strategies to enhance the implementation of devolution.

The two research papers  are namely Exploring the Key Success Factors in Implementing Devolution in Zimbabwe  and Review of Challenges and Capacity Gaps  of Different Tiers of Government that can Undermine Implementation of Devolution.

The policy dialogue was attended by dignitaries drawn from government ministries and agencies, namely Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, Office of the President and Cabinet, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development,  Provincial Councils, Rural Local Authorities, Local Communities, Residents' Associations, Development Partners, Research Institutions and the Academia
